User's notes

The caterpillar was sighted on a footbridge handrail adjacent to ANBG's Red Centre. It was very active on both the horizontal and vertical surfaces of the handrail. Tiny front legs can be seen in the images adjacent to its eyes, as the caterpillar bent its pointed head down into them. Possibly a Looper Moth caterpillar? Thanks to Marcus Leach for the initial sighting.

A number of species in Geometrinae align a pointed head with their body like that. The commonest in ACT is probably Crypsiphona ocultaria.

Ahh the mighty Australia dollar! There must be a financial institution somewhere who would like this photo? :-)
