I have seen this species lots of times before on my property in Wamboin (I have even recorded breeding) and I have never heard this species call, so interesting observation.
Normally this species is very shy and quietly moves away from the observer when approached, only occasionally flying.
This species forages on the ground in leaf litter, so probably was a bit surprised about the snow.
