Hi Alison
The spots on these beetles are quite different to my other sighting of Hippodamia variegata. See:
Lady beetle (Coccinellidae) Hippodamia variegata (Spotted Amber Ladybird) on 16 Jan 2019
??

Thanks Michael. I will investigate further. I'm still very much a novice but thought I had 'mastered' lady beetles. Perhaps not.

Hi Michael. I think this identification is correct. The markings seem the same as Lady beetle (Coccinellidae) Hippodamia variegata (Spotted Amber Ladybird) on 15 Nov 2018 verified by Kim Pullen.

That's good Alison, I guess that's why it is called "variegata".
