Cheilanthes is a complicated genus, and it's difficult to distinguish habitat forms from of supposed species. C. sieberi and C. (austro)tenuifolia are a case in point. But this one might be best categorised as C. sieberi. The problem is not helped by taxonomists devising sub-species. Genetic analysis may be a solution.
