Recent Tree Goanna records within the Canberra region are very rare and far between

Well done - a very useful record of the Lace Monitor (Varanus varius). We do get regular records of Rosenberg's Monitor (another species of goanna) from out towards Gundaroo but Lace Monitor's seem to be exceptionally rare in the Canberra region. Keep up the good recording. WillO

Thanks. We have started to see the lace monitors a few times a season just in the last couple of years here - usually when they come chasing the rosella chicks nesting in our trees.
Though they’re sometimes after bigger prey - our neighbors just had one big monitor take one of their ducks!
