Hi Lindsay
In your notes you say that this cicada lives in open grassland. Do the adults feed on native grasses, and the immature nymphs feed on the roots of native grasses?

Hi Michael
We can infer that the nymphs feed on the roots of grasses based on the finding of exuviae in fields that are exclusively occupied by grasses. I have observed adults feeding on exotic and native grasses (they often occur on Avena fatua, for example). Nymphs also presumably feed on exotic and native species.
