Ken this doesn't seem to have enough leaflets to be Swainsona monticola, which has 11 -25 leaflet pairs as opposed to sericea which has 5 -13. Also the Keel apex in sericea is obtuse with swellings behind tip (which seems to fit with your images) while in S. monticola the keel apex is acute

Michael, I've added another image showing the stem and leaf hairs (forgot to put it in first time around). I've interpreted these to be basifixed as per PlantNET which immediately takes me away from Swainsona sericea in the first couplet of the key. I also couldn't see the pointy leaflet tips that many of the CNM images of Swainsona sericea show, but you are spot on about the number of leaflets being too few for Swainsona monticola. This one has given me some grief.

Vicflora states that sericea has asymmetrically medifixed hairs which can be appressed or spreading. The other character I used was that the calyx teeth were about the same length as the calyx tube.
