This is the first record of Carlia tetradactyla that i know of from Mt Taylor (I still need to check the CNM records but don't remember seeing this species listed for Mt Taylor). If that is the case, then this provides an addition to the known reptile list for Mt Taylor.
I have now observed three and possibly four skink species in a very small area around a granite outcrop on the north eastern base of Mount Taylor. Interesting they should all be so close together.
This is not unusual. On our former property near Nimmitabel we have 30 species of herpetofauna. However, with so much land being managed in a way hostile to reptiles good habitat is becoming rarer and rarer.
