This bug has attacked every plum on my tree. The tree has never been attacked by bugs previously.

Hi Alison, this is the pupa of one of the common Canberra ladybirds that prey on aphids and other small insects. So it's not the plum culprit.

Hi Kim, I thought it was a Ladybird larvae. In the photo it is clearly attached tot he plum and I found at least two others firmly attached to plums also, though perhaps they were feeding on something inside the plums.
