Is it possible this is Merimbula Star-hair? I will try get better photos in a couple of weeks when next at Brogo and hopefully the flowers will have emerged by then and still be there.
It looks like some sort of daisy. Unfortunately the close up is out of focus. As far as I know, Merimbula star hair is only at the bottom end of Bournda National Park extening as far as the junction of the main road that goes north from Merimbula and the Tura Beach road, where Don photographed it.
Yep, this is either Ozothamnus diosmifolius or Cassinia aculeata, the two "dogwoods" with relatively short leaves that occur down here. The Astrotricha certainly does look similar in the leaves and general form, and you are not the first person to have confused them.
Thanks Jackie and Betty. Claire has said to me before that if she had a fraction of either of your knowledge of native plants, she'd be a very happy person. Cheers, Pete
