In Gigerline Nature Reserve, in sandy soil on the west side of the Murrumbidgee River.

It looks as if it could be in the in the family Onagraceae. However the flower structure appears to be atypical. I have found an American web site that could be helpful. http://www.wildflowers-and-weeds.com/Plant_Families/Onagraceae.htm

The flower will be shrivelled, so it will be an Oenothera - the fruit and leaf shape might be enough to get to a species if flowers can't be found.
