Recorded as scattered filaments among Spirogyra growing in the Cotter River. Algal cells generally 27-48 µm long and 43 µm wide. Third image shows the algae with an attached Chytrid fungus (cell diam 7.5 µm),
Stephen Skinner of the NSW Herbarium said "this appears to be Uronema confervicolum, in the Chaetophorales, although it might be a species of Klebormidium. In any case the beautifully photographed cysts are the work of the water mould/chitrid growing out from them!Please remember that these determinations are done without microscopic examination on my part; I don't know any measurements, and there is often little reproductive information in the pictures. I also don't have precise locations or any water data.
