User's notes

On the western side of the Murrumbidgee River, north of Tharwa. This insect was very engrossed in some Hemlock flowers, a dangerous practice. I had no camera but I was able to capture it in a small container to take home to photograph and then release.

Its a sawfly Pergidae: Pterygophorinae. Adults are nectar feeders. Note wasp-like warning coloration.

Thanks Speedsta. It helped that the sawfly very engrossed in the Hemlock flowers and didn't mind my being so close.
