The subject of this photograph is clearly very similar to Lichenomphalia chromacea, a lichen that has been recorded several times on Canberra Nature Map. Normally, when you see that lichen, its mushroom sporing body is yellow and growing from an algal mat (albeit sometimes sparse) on otherwise bare soil. It is still possible that this is a species of Lichenomphalia (perhaps even Lichenomphalia chromacea, with a slight colour cast in the photo) with an algal mat hiding in the shadows. I cannot see enough to be sure and so have called it Omphalina s.l., for there are non-lichenized fungi that produce small mushrooms such as the one shown here. All such species (including Lichenomphalia chromacea) were once placed in the genus Omphalina, but today they have been spread over several genera, not always easy to recognize visually.
