Thanks for adding photo to record Rob. This is our first record of Blackish Blind Snake in Kinlyside, and helps in the provision of comprehensive reptile lists for all our reserves

User's notes

Found in termite frass in very rotten eucalyptus log. Note: blind snakes are harmless, however they emit a lingering unpleasant smell if handled.

Ramphotyphlops are difficult to identify at the best of times, often needing examination under a microscope to confirm id. As nigrescens is the only one thought to occur in the Canberra region and as this image certainly looks like nigrescens, this is the best we can do without closer examination.
