This sedge is only known from four locations in the ACT. It was last recorded as occurring in the Point Hut Crossing area in 1966. It is great to know that it is still holding its own.

User's notes

This is a distinctive looking plant, with a an erect and pointed central stem for the flowerhead. This stem is triangular in cross-section and grows 20 to 60 cm tall. The flowerhead/seedhead consists of one or several oval shaped spikelets. They are in a tight cluster near the top of the stem, brown in colour, and growing on one side. The leaves are grass-like, and grow from the base of the plant. The plant is a long-lived perennial, spreads by rhizomes, and likes wet and boggy places. It browns off over winter, and produces new growth in spring.
