Coprinellus (Ozonium state)

This shows itself as a thick but loose and shaggy orange or orange-brown mat on wood. As an analogy, think of thick, orange shag-pile  carpet. The fungal mat is a sterile, asexual state produced by species of Coprinellus. Sometimes you will see Coprinellus mushrooms growing from the mat.

 

In days gone by Ozonium appeared as a separate genus name.
