Very small click beetle with a striking broad red band over a black body. Adults may be found on trunks of eucalypts.

The Australian Paracardiophorus species have been transferred to Austrocardiophorus, but the old placement is followed here as the Australian Faunal Directory has not (as of August 2024) made the change.
