This is the most southern and inland record of this exotic species in Australia. It is considered to pose some risk to citrus orchids but is reported not to be able to withstand temperatures below 0 degrees C and only has a low rate of spread unless aided by humans. There may have been a 2025 reporting of this species from Casey/

Sighted in ANBG's Rainforest Gully on several leaves. Possibly Aleurocanthus spiniferus, the Citrus Spiny Whitefly.

Thanks very much looks like Citrus spiny Whitefly and as far as I can tell this would be the first Canberra record with just one "nearby" record in Sydney

@MichaelMulvaney The infected plant is at the upper end of ANBG’s Rainforest Gully, at the bottom of the stairs leading into the gully. The plant’s identification tag states: c792273 62 Corynocarpus Cribbianus. The scale insects were on many of the leaves of this plant earlier today but don’t appear to be on the adjacent plants which are very close by. Hope this helps.

Thanks Tim - It is not known to have members of the Corynocarpaceae as host plants - but it seems to infect a large variety of plants and seems possible that Corynocarpus cribbianus is a host.
