User's notes

A Globular Springtail lost in the vastness of a single leaf in ANBG’s Rainforest Gully. Springtails have a tail-like abdominal appendage (a furcula) held in tension beneath their bodies which when released, flings them into the air to avoid danger as well as allowing them to rapidly move about. The first image shows the furcula tucked beneath the Globular Springtail.

Wow, I didn't know that's why they're called springtails - great image showing the furcula!
