A spokesperson from the Two Thumbs Wildlife Trust has also written the following on their Facebook page: "I went out today (16 July 2026) with Brooke and 4 ACT Government Rangers to the tree the koala near Theodore was in. The tree was a Eucalyptus bridgesiana (Apple Box), a local koala preferred species of tree. I also managed to find some fresh koala pellets. The ACT Rangers took some koala pellets for DNA analysis etc and I took 6 koala pellets to the Australian National University and gave them to Dr Karen Ford who will do nutritional analysis and see what species of eucalyptus it has been feeding on etc."
