User's notes

A Springtail. Thanks to Kim Pullen for the identification from a previous sighting that this is a member of the Entomobryomorpha within the class or order Collembola, resembling the genus Pseudoparonella in the family Paronellidae. I understand that in terms of sheer numbers, Springtails are one of the most abundant of macroscopic animals, essentially found nearly everywhere where there is soil and where there are associated habitats, and can occur in numbers exceeding 100,000 per square metre. Having said that, this lone individual was sighted hiding in plain sight on the side of a tree in ANBG’s Rainforest Gully, as seen in the final image.
