User's notes

Big Old Tree (BOT) hollow. We were unsure when the first female fledged (photos 1&2) - we estimate perhaps a day before her sister. We were about to look in the hollow with a pole camera to confirm the hollow was empty, when . . . oops, up popped the sister (previously unsighted - 3rd photo). Shortly afterwards the parents flew in and spoke softly to her, encouraging her to fledge (at least, we think that's what the vocalisations are). Within a quarter of an hour of the parents arriving, she was off, flying to a nearby tree approx 20m away. Mum and dad followed her, briefly preened, fed, touched beaks to reassure her (photos 4&5), then flew off - perhaps to her sister? This was the final gang-gang fledging of the season (of the trees that we had been monitoring). There is a story to follow her fledging - it was an adventure for her . . .
