This is a follow-up of the Bird-dropping Spider seen in sighting 4726569. The intention is to record how the spider is going in terms of catching prey and avoiding predators. The first image is a side view showing the spider sitting on its silk mat in its ambush posture, with its body raised up at an angle. Behind the spider (to the left of the image) is the silk wrapped remains of its recent prey. It’s difficult to tell what the prey was but possibly another spider. The second image looks down onto the spider, showing similar details. The third image shows the spider from the side with the raised head end towards the left of the image, and the spider’s legs drawn up around the head. The spider’s eyes can be seen peering through the legs. There now appears to be a white egg, possibly from a parasite, attached to one of the legs, something not seen in the original sighting. The fourth image is a front view with the spider’s eyes visible, peering through the drawn-up legs. The final image is a top rear view, taken as the spider adjusted its posture.
