The bird-dropping spider was sighted at ANBG’s Rainforest Gully sitting in its typical ambush posture with its body raised at an angle and its legs drawn up around its head. It was sitting between two piles of silk wrapped remains of prey, which gave the overall impression of a bird dropping on the leaf. There were silk drag lines running from the spider out to the leaf edge to provide some warning of approaching prey. The first and third images are side views, the second a front view, the fourth a rear view and the final image is a view from above.
