This bird-dropping spider at ANBG's Rainforest Gully is seen in its typical ambush posture. It’s sitting on a silk mat with its body raised up at an angle, which elevates its eyes and enhances its view of approaching predators or prey. In these images the spider has its legs drawn up around its head ready to strike at prey, and its eyes are visible looking out through the legs. The remains of its prey are seen within a silk covered mesh adjacent to the spider (final image). The overall appearance of the spider with its silk mat and silk wrapped remains of prey resembles a bird dropping. The first image is a rear view, the second and fourth images are side views, and the third image is a front view.
