What is grazing on it? I see a lot of defoliated hawthorns but I am not sure grazing is responsible.

Im positive about grazing because i ve seen half nibbled leaves and specimen that are not defoliated but presumably only because they were protected by a ball of previously cut hawthorns. this would also indicate grazing by large herbivore not grass hoppers
