RBT fledglings, newly fledged. The young male had spent a difficult night clinging on outside his hollow, and fledged early the previous day. We found him just down the hill from his hollow, hanging on precariously, and sleeping a lot. Mum and dad visited and fed him. The gang-gangs who were still nesting close by were not happy with the visitors, and flew aggressively at the chick and parents. As the evening drew on, more gang-gangs arrived, talked to the parents, then flew off. My burning question was - where was his sister, who had fledged 3 days earlier? I watched where mum flew after feeding her boy, and followed as best I could down the hill. I heard the faintest sigh from a gang-gang, looked up, and there was the female fledgling, being tended to by mum. I went back up to watch the boy, then came down again to the girl (around 150m between them?). It was late, heading towards roosting time. Mum touched beaks with her daughter (reassuring her, I believe), before flying off. Dad reassured his son earlier by touching beaks (photo 5), before going off to forage.
