User's notes

I was busy concentrating on taking photos of gang-gangs, and ignored the cacophony being made by SCCs behind me - until they were joined by noisy miner warning calls. (The gang-gangs I was watching were unperturbed.) I turned around, just in time to see this Whistling Kite gliding along towards me, then over me, at small tree height. (Just a week or two ago, there were gang-gangs nesting in the area it traversed. Now, the fledglings are out and hiding in the tops of trees around the area - and I suddenly realised how precarious it is for the young ones, newly out of the safety of their nest.) I followed, and accidentally disturbed the raptor which was low, near the ground and hidden in the shadows (I was approx 20+m away). The kite rose, and proceeded to slowly circle another area, gliding and seeking. To my surprise, I then saw a pair of gang-gangs follow it, from a safe distance above. The kite eventually left, flying up the hill - followed by the gang-gangs who sat calling, high in a eucalypt.
