User's notes

Redbox female fledging - both chicks now fledged. Female fledged quietly and unobserved, but then a distressed squawking could be heard from where other hollows were being monitored. Rushing over, we found the male talking reassuringly, and the chick squeaking back from low down on a nearby sapling, human chest height. After a few minutes (and some wobbling) the chick flew low then up, landing high in the tree, followed by dad. Both parents allopreened and fed her. About half an hour later, the parents returned loudly to the hollow, looking in, noisily flying around the hollow and trees close by. Neither observer had witnessed such post-fledging behaviour previously.
