User's notes

A number of breeding gang-gangs in Canberra have been tagged with trackers, as part of a gang-gang movement study with ANU (and partners). The gang-gangs I've observed seem surprisingly (to me) undisturbed by the tracker (which will eventually fall off). I've seen no impediment to their lives - for example, I've watched them squeeze into small entrances of hollows, then plump themselves out again as they always do, at the mouth of the hollow. I was particularly intrigued to watch a pair allopreen each other, when the male was adorned by the tracker. I was sure the female would worry at the fastening to get rid of the tracker - but no, she just worked around it, and he enjoyed the attention. These photos are of birds from a number of pairs, from different nests, so I've put an approximate location only.
