New nesting hollow of this endangered species

User's notes

New hollow - Really Big Tree (RBT), found by Tom last night in a tree that we've all checked out several times over the years . . . hidden hollow (maybe we should call it Hidden hollow?). This morning I saw mum resting on the edge, and fly off. Then a tiny white beak appeared, accompanied by a grey head and black eyes - a female chick! Over the next hour or so, we saw mum and dad fly to the tree, speak gently to young one, fly off, come back, chat. Tom suspects a fledging happened yesterday; I'm wondering if there is another waiting in the hollow.

Amazing that we missed it until now - well done

Agreed - so close, just out of eye-shot. Good catch by Tom - he happened to see the male emerge. The hollow is quite high, and not really chewed.
