User's notes

This rust was found on Acacia falciformis and otherwise thus far known only from Acacia falciformis in SE Qld. The second and third images show each side of the same phyllode and photomicrographs show urediniospores. I came across it far too late in the season and will need to visit earlier next year to make a collection. Formal identification will need the application of a molecular phylogenetic approach as these things look much the same under a microscope. Ref:. AR. McTaggart, C. Doungsaard, A.D.W. Geering, M.C. Aime, R.G. Shivas A co-evolutionary relationship exists between Endoraecium (Pucciniales) and its Acacia hosts in Australia. Persoonia 35, 2015: 50–62
