User's notes

New hollow (well, for me it is). Female was resting, but the colour of her feet suggest she had been excavating? She was snapping at some bees between shut-eye. The male was excavating, and there were bees visible - as well as a pair of eastern rosellas. I was struck by the intensity and beauty of the colours of his back in the sun - I don't recall seeing such colourful hues on a gang-gang before. The male took quite a bit of detritus out of the hollow, and I wondered if he was taking out honeycomb? I went back to inspect the base of the tree, and actually found egg shell and some fluffy feathers, directly below the hollow - nothing bee-like

Thanks Lisa
I was also checking tree hollows in this area this morning and came across this pair doing exactly what you described and they were still there when I returned half an hour later - Yes it is a new hollow - hoping it is used this year

Yes I believe that hollow is new for this year.... If it's where I believe it to be I have definitely seen some good activity over that way this last few weeks but hadn't got around to actually checking the hollow.

Interesting. @MichaelMulvaney - did you see the egg shell? If so, what do you think it was?
