User's notes
The Acacia Leaf Beetle was initially sighted on an acacia at STEP (final image) and when disturbed it dropped into the undergrowth and feigned being dead, a typical defensive behaviour. The first image shows the underside of the beetle with its legs drawn up into a defensive position within the exoskeleton. Interestingly, the beetle’s front pair of legs fold forwards within the exoskeleton whilst the other two pairs of legs fold backwards, probably due to the restricted space.
