The third and fourth images show side views of the typical ambush posture of these spiders which can often be found within indentations on the sides of trees. This one has pressed its body into the indentation, with its head facing down the tree and its legs and trip lines radiating out from the indentation. Any prey approaching the indentation may not see the spider's body hiding within it.
