User's notes

Meh, I thought, as I heard a yellow-tailed black fledgling beg - so common. But the calls were a bit different, and I began to think I could hear two begging? I had to check it out. And there, to my amazement, was a family of two adults and their two(!) young. I have never seen a family of four yellow-tailed black cockatoos before, and it seems that it is an unusual sight. I witnessed the adult male feed one young bird, and the adult female feed the other, feeding her insistent chick at least six times. After downloading the photos, I noticed that one of the young birds had grey eye rings, and the other's eye ring was changing to pink. But my brief research brings up different information on what age the young may be to both a) still be with their parents, and being fed; and b) show eye colour change. I'm interested to hear your thoughts, experienced NatureMapr moderators?
