We thought we'd saved the figs from the birds, with bat-friendly netting - only we didn't know how friendly the netting was . . . I was shocked to find bats inside the netting - and daylight showed the bat-sized hole they'd gouged for themselves. So now I hear them flapping around each night as they fly off, satiated. Fortunately, we'd had a good feed, and husband had made lots of jam before the bats found their way through the netting.
