User's notes

Umbrella sedge appeared after "Icon Water" dug out old infrastructure including bonded asbestos and implemented storm-water infrastructure, outlet and piping, from the big water reservoir. The discharge of water turns the the grassy woodland into a swamp. Building rubble, including I assume the bonded asbestos was put back into the reserve and mixed with soil. Friends of Mt Majura (FoMM) carried out weed control in this area over the past 20 years (St John's Wort, Serrated tussock, Wild sage, privets and many more) and direct seeded Speargrass and Redleg Grass. The ParkCare group also undertook control of a large amount of Umbrella sedge (and of other weeds such as Ivy, Honeysuckle,....) in the nearby gully / drainage line. Devastating!!! Icon Water should rehab the site. Also, inappropriate garden extension planting of Blue Periwinkle behind the backyard of a nearby residence (see https://canberra.naturemapr.org/sightings/4653447) in a swale that runs parallel to the backyards may greatly benefit form the additional water and may over time invade work carried out by FoMM further to the north. First photo view from east to west with residences in the background, 2nd photo view towards east, 3rd photo back-filled soil with building rubble.
