Sighted on a handrail in ANBG's Rainforest Gully. The final image shows detail of the interface between the Longhorn beetle’s antenna and its compound eye. The head of this type of beetle appears to have evolved over time and changed shape. This appears to have caused the base of the antenna to move across the face and into the compound eye structure, almost separating the eye into two distinct parts. In the final image the beetle is at rest with both antennae lying back alongside its body, demonstrating how the antennae fit into the eye structure without obstructing the eye.
