Holy Moly @Nancyinoz , @danswell. This has not happened for many years. He is 3/4 km into the suburb from the nearest bit of proper bush. We know almost every individual goanna in the reserve (there are only a few) from their left face and right face. So if you get another chance, a close up photo of the face would enable me to say who this is. Or call me on 0428 48 9990, or both. He is at risk of attack by a large dog or being run over by a car. Actually I'm going to head over now for a look around. I might get lucky.

Update. @Nancyinoz , @danswell, @AlisonMilton. He kept passing through backyards and I got a phone call from No 66, passed via Gavin Smith (Snake Rescue). It proved to be a known individual, Goanna 'Rum'. I caught him and returned him to a rabbit burrow at Campbell Park which he had previously occupied. There is a post on facebook about it with videos and more images.

I’m so glad you were able to find him and take him somewhere safe. We were worried that he might try to cross limestone. It’s also interesting that you found him at number 66 because that means he was going back down the street, headed somewhere (Whereas when I reported it he was going up).
