The flightless female PAM is rounder and brown unlike this. The cocoon is covered with brown hairs (e.g. Flying Colours by Couper 1992) This looks way more like Anestia sp. which sparsely covers the cocoon with long hairs. The female looks like this. She is white often with pink-red and black bands - similar colouration to the larva. see Anestia (genus) VERSUS Orgyia anartoides (Painted Apple Moth) AND Orgyia anartoides (Painted Apple Moth) I do note some other records incorrectly placed in Orgyia anartoides on NM incl 4549839, 4545799, 4481306, 3394518, 3375946
