User's notes
A trail of these foraging ants was seen going up and down a tree and across the garden bed at the base of the tree. There was no covered forageway evident. In the first three images 'up' is to the left. The final two images show the garden bed at the base of the tree. Thanks to Barbara for the initial sighting.
