Hi @abread111, @wombey and @Chippo66. Thanks for your report @Chippo66. This is almost certainly the goanna named 'Rum' by one of the goanna survey volunteers in 2023 on the basis of a short name for a shortened goanna, while continuing the use of names beginning with R which was started by Matt Higgins in 2015. Prior to the 2023 capture and careful recording of Rum, I had separately noted this goanna as two individuals, one from his left face, recorded in Canberra Nature Map (CNM) on Mt Majura by one person, and the other from his right face, recorded at Campbell Park by another person. So finding Rum in 2023 REDUCED the known goanna population by one.
We now have seven individuals recorded by their face photos. There are also photos in CNM of what I suspect to be a couple more individuals but cant be sure because the face markings were not clear enough in the photos to confidently identify the goannas.
