Great area for boletes.
Love the pores on this one; currently looking for similar along the coast

You are recording some great boletes. Are you able to collect and dry any of these? An important aspect of identification is the colour of their spores. Really need to look at these microscopically to give a more valid id. Just looking at images usually results in guestimations unless a very distinctive species, As these fungi are prone to infection by Hypomyces their characteristics are often distorted as well

This looks very similar to Boletus tasmanicus

Another possible identification is Boletus barragensis, which I feel is more likely

I am leaning more to Boletus barragensis because of what appears to be reticulation on the stipe (stem)

Hi @Pam. Many of my recent fungi sightings are at the Australian National Botanic Gardens. I believe a requirement for visitors to the ANBG is to not remove any material from the Gardens (the exception being with prior ANBG approval). I don't have ANBG permission to collect the fungi I find there (or anything else). However, I note your comments and if I come across boletes elsewhere, I'll collect a sample and try to provide the additional information. Tim

You're making a great contribution to our understanding of what is out there, where and when. Thank you for that and your great images.

Thanks @Pam. Actually, I have the easy bit: Point the camera and take images. Without CNM and the contribution from yourself and the other CNM experts they would remain just that, images. It's the understanding and knowledge of you experts that makes the difference. Thanks to you all.
