Barb I think the land manger is not doing anything about the CNG apart from spreading it when they mow / slash the 50m outer asset protection zone in peak seeding time. Im afraid we need to lobby the government to manage this extreme high risk invader to prevent it to take over the lower grassy woodlands.
I'm afraid that once the CNG is overabundant the land manager will officially declare that they are not spending spare resources on CNG and so it will be continue to spread. I have been jumping up and down for years begging and asking and requesting to control CNG... years ago there was little CNG; however, it spread like fire during 3 LaNina years and continues to spread in the deep soils of the grassy woodland of the lower slope. As predicted, the little CNG sprayed by a contractor on the south side of the drainage line is growing back; see my comment at https://canberra.naturemapr.org/sightings/456758. I wonder whether the land manager knows that the main reason of the success of CNG is its large and long-lived reserve of viable seeds in the soil seed bank and that CNG is a prolific seeder producing 1000s of seeds per m2 in a good season such as the LaNina years? if they knew wouldn't they monitor and follow up? but what do we know ....
