E. postvittana not commonly seen so uniformly brown. Rupicolana rupicolana ?

see https://moths.csiro.au/species_taxonomy/epiphyas-postvittana/ c.f https://moths.csiro.au/species_taxonomy/dichelopa-panoplana/
several forms of E postvittata are quite plain. This moth has broad wings and very broad 'shoulders' like Epiphyas sp. It has the dark spot near wing base, long dark fringe patch on tornus.

I was influenced by this image on iNaturaliast, although admittedly, the proposed ID has not been confirmed:-
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/196712590.D. panaoplana is a distinctly different species.

Yes it is a big problem. Sadly someone makes an incorrect ID of something tricky then everyone follows suit, downloading their similar shots (all unconfirmed i.e. "I.D. needed"- usually) - then it flows to ALA as well. That is why I always try to check with BOLD (or when its off-line, like last night, CSIRO) - something I learnt through my own mistakes/being mislead. The other issue can be non-Aus gen/sp being suggested. Yes there are new imports but not so many. I was so relieved when D Hobern Set up the Australia filtered BOLD site - It was so tedious (I was on dial up until very recently) waiting for the maps and lists to arrive on the sp page of BOLD to check if it was recorded in Aus. Also have to keep my wits about me on iNat which sometimes throws me to "The World" even if I have filtered for Australia!
