@Trevor : How many pairs of prolegs did it have? Geometridae characteristically have only 2 pairs plus the anal claspers. It seems to have a very narrow head and tail. I hope you can rear it to an adult moth for identification.

@donhe : I wish I could answer your questions, but not familiar with prolegs, Geometridae or anal claspers. The best chance I have to find its adult moth is to keep an eye on what is evident in the park.

@Trevor : That's why its best with caterpillars to take them straight away into protective custody (survival rate <1% in the wild, as everything likes eating caterpillars) so you can take further photos and try rearing it to the adult moth for proper identification. If you succeed you can take it back to the same spot to release it.
