spike like infloresence about 7 cm long, very bristly with even coloured bristles, spikelets about 2 mm long, nodes glabrous, ligule densely hairy, stems to a bit over a meter long, erect or leaning, deciduous spikelets

Yes, but not a good one - lacks roots. Can go back and get a better one if you want it.

Please keep for the moment but I think your id is clear-cut and no further effort required. I found a large number of this dreadful weed close to the watercourse; it is in good companionship with all the Chilean Needle Grass and Paspalum...
