I acknowledge your point but I think these are particularly 'foreshortened' images which tend to make the palps look more prominent than they actually are. I think there are many identified photos of this species online which show equally long palps. I think long palps may well be a charateristic of the female of the species which seems to be borne out by the photos in Part 4. Moths of Victoria.
